Giveaway Week, Day 3: Enchanted Adornments
I'm off now, to pretend to work while I read every word of my new ebook.
yay!
I love photographing things and am normally pleased with the results, but the extra step gets in my way... yet it's so crucial to making a blog attractive and readable!
Remembering to take pictures as I go-
Figuring out what the heck to write about-
How to juggle the time it takes to post with everything else-
And mostly how to build it up into something more than 5 or so people (who may or may not be related to me) read.
I just started my crafting blog this year as part of my New Year's resolution to be more crafty and by posting them on a blog. It does challenge me to try to keep up with it on a regular basis but I would like to make it more interesting and easy for others to read.
I love seeing everyone elses blogs and get most of my inspiration from other bloggers
It looks great, haven't had time to read it yet. LOTS of information.
Thanks CraftyPod
i have a hard time thinking of interesting things to say and visually stimulating ways to put it on the screen, including pictures. thus i don't update as much as i should!
Your content ROCKS!
Hope I will win a copy of your e-book, and if not, I will not hesitate to purchase.
Thank you, Lady, much love to ya...
also picking the best product. Regularly it seems that bloggers are revamping their site because of limitations of their vendor or application. I worry about too much tedious maintenance.

I start to wonder if anyone really want to see any more bird photos, flower macros, vacation photos and/or knitting projects. Maybe the death of some blogs is the natural order of things, especially if you don't find yourself all that interesting! (that's the boat I'm in!)
Found your site via Kim Werker's tweet and have to say that your button header made me blink! It was like you'd gone down to my studio and spilled open my button stash. (and I've got you saved to Google reader now for further exploration!)
xoxo
The most challenging.....keeping up the enthusiam even when it seems like no one is reading (although I know at least a few people are), and commiting to a regular posting schedule.
cuz I've got a bad camera and a good husband. ;~)

What I find challenging about blogging is that
1. I spend too much time blogging!
2. I have so much to say, but so much of it is disjointed.
I tried a new approach this weekend, posting photos and brief text to Twitter this weekend, which worked reasonably well. Now maybe I can tackle my blog (using the wisdom of your book!)
The most challenging part of blogging for me has been making the time to actually post, and getting great photos. I eek out enough time to make crafty projects, but having the additional time to take great photos, edit them, and post them is really the challenge. The next most challenging aspect of blogging for me has been the fact that I would LOVE to write a lot more hilarious observations, which can not be published, because they would offend certain relatives.
Thank you for this giveaway! I haven't seen any books about blogging, let about creative blogging and I think it's great of you to share your experience.
The most challenging: posting on a regular basis, being more talkative without being egocentric...
My biggest issue is finding the energy to blog. I have two blogs and since starting the second my first has pretty much languished. I always think I'm going to keep my daily post short, sweet and snappy but I wind up blathering on for far too long and pour so much energy into it that I feel drained after. So... energy and editing, I guess those two go hand in hand for me.
Great question and it's great to read other's responses.
My biggest challenge (especially as a new blogger) is balancing between blogging and then taking the time to actually create, which is the whole point! Sometimes it's tough to tear yourself away from the computer and just get going. When you have a new blog, that in itself is like taking on a new craft -- learning what works and what doesn't, seeing what brings in traffic -- it can get just as addicting as your craft of choice!
I would love to win your book.
- like Astaryth said, just making the post! A lot of times I think, this post is boring with out pictures! I'll wait till I have a pic. Then it just doesn't seem timely anymore.
- Coming up with a cohesive whole - I'm so all over the place and interested in so many things. I don't know if that would break up an audience too much to go into so many different things, or be an advantage.
- Coming up with something I feel is original/valuable. I think "oh wouldn't that be interesting... let it germinate... and then tomorrow I see 3 other blog entries with the same topic!
The only thing I know for sure about blogging, for me anyway, is that it's a continuously evolving format.
I read them all the time, yours daily.
But I still love it, and don't think I'll ever stop.
I don't know how to use google analytics even though I signed up for it. I can't figure out how to tell who and how many people have visited my site. I find many things challenging.
Wa-wa-wa... Listen to me cry! I think I need to get a little more positive. You are such an inspiration Sister Diane. Thanks for all you do.
my challenges vary... and mostly revolve around time constraints
Finding the right words and then being satisfied with what I have written is what I find the most challenging. I also want to build my audience and have no idea on how to do it. I hope to win this ebook because I have a lot to learn!
Hope I win!
Also, it's sometimes hard to find the time to blog, I'd like to blog every day and read blogs every day.. all day! But I just don't have the time.
I just discovered the Crafty pod and I listen at work! LOVE IT!! Thank you for all your help!
Keep it Gourdy! Wendy
Concerning actual writing, I'm not that worried about it (I wrote a column amongst other articles for all four years of high school and some for my college newspaper) but I've never done an actual blog. I'm pretty organized, so I take lots of pictures, bookmark, and even make sure to write my initial thoughts about whatever I'm observing, but I don't know if I have the discipline to keep up-to-date on a blog. I need help figuring out a way to set myself up for success concerning scheduling and time.
Also, I think I have plenty to blog about, but I'm not sure what all is appropriate for a blog. How specific and personal should I get? Writing for newspapers, I always had a target goal, but with blogs I'm just not sure what to go after! Also, also, I'm not sure what the rules of etiquette are for blogging, and I really don't want to commit any virtual faux-pas! :)
In any case, I really enjoy reading your blog and I figure if I can get advice straight from a woman who runs her own successful crafty blog, I'd eventually be sitting pretty well myself! Anyway, thank you for everything you do.

*Oh dear! Another question for you; how long is too long for blog posts?? (I think I might need help on that!)
The most dificult part of blogging for me is the WAVES that it comes in! Sometimes I am full of posts and other times i have nothing!
